The founders:

Upkar Pardesi, Executive Chairman

Although Upkar has spent over 35 years working in Higher Education Institutions, he has innate entrepreneurial skills and ability that he demonstrated at Birmingham City University. Here, Upkar created profit-generating centres within the Business School that provided services to businesses and communities. He did this without any investment by the university – relying on his ability to win contracts and to reinvest the surpluses to grow the income generating activities. He has a PhD in Marketing in Small Firms and was helping graduates and senior managers to create team-based, high growth businesses in the 1980s and 1990s. He was appointed Professor of Enterprise Development for his work with start-ups, small firms in general and ethnic businesses in particular. In 1996, he was appointed Dean of Birmingham City Business School, which he ran as a business and turned it to be a successful part of the university with turnover of £25m, 4000 students and 200 staff.

Upkar’s entrepreneurial skills are further demonstrated by his involvement in setting up, leading and turning around charitable organisations. He has been the Chairman of The Drum (one of UK’s leading Art Centres for Asian and African-Caribbean performing arts) for 13 years. He is also Vice Chair of Nishkam Civic Association and Nishkam School Trust where he provides the strategic direction and leads the fund raising campaigns for the two organisations.

Harmil, Marketing and Development Director

Harmil is the organiser and drives the team to convert plans into action. Harmil is an experienced and qualified Marketing professional. He heads up the marketing function and is responsible for research and development of the services we offer. With the other Directors, it is his job to ensure that we put the needs of students and institutions at the heart of everything we do. He is responsible for developing and maintaining long term relationships with institutions and organisations that want to promote their products and services to the global student community. Harmil left a career in marketing Higher Education to dedicate his energy to develop MyEd.

Harmil contributes to the team by offering clear, practical suggestions to getting things accomplished. He has excellent organisational skills and drives the achievement of agreed milestones. He has highly developed communication, interpersonal and team building skills. Harmil leads all project planning and contracting with external services providers.

Harmil is passionate about creating a free, unbiased and trustworthy resource for students and a values-led business.

Eamon, Operations and Development Director

Eamon is the creative and media communication specialist member of the team. Eamon manages a diverse team of web developers and designers who are contracted to work with MyEd.com His role is to ensure that MyEd.com is at the forefront of innovations in using technology and social media to reach the global student community. He is responsible for all aspects of operations including, systems design and social media strategy and implementation.

His ambition is to bring comprehensive information on education to the palm of everyone with mobile devices.

Eamon created and started a web and media development business in Birmingham, in 2006, straight after graduating with a Masters in Visual Communication. His knowledge of the emerging communications technology is crucial to the development of our services.
