Unlike applying for a school place, the application process is pretty straight forward and parents tend to base their search on location, price, recommendations, official ratings and availability.  The most popular nurseries can have long waiting lists, so it is always best to start getting advice and searching at least 6 months (sometimes 12 months) ahead of when you want your child to start.  If you find that you are searching just before you want your child to start, you may not secure all of the days/sessions you want your child to attend.

We aim to make the searching and selecting process easier by providing the advice, guidance and information that you will need to choose a nursery for your child to be developing well in a safe and friendly atmosphere that you feel content with.

Our advice and research that we have prepared to guide parents include:

You will find many articles that have been written to help understand the various options available and to select early years care and education most suited to you and your child’s needs.

We have made the official information on the National Curriculum and how Ofsted inspects early years provision simple and more digestible.

We advise all parents to visit the nurseries that they are strongly considering for their child and we include a section on what to consider when visiting a nursery and collecting the views of parents experiences of the nurseries that you are considering.

Our aim is to help parents to make well informed choices along the education journey – starting with nursery care and early years education.
