- The manager, who is also the designated safeguarding lead, does not fully understand her responsibilities to keep children safe.

- Children arrive happily and settle quickly into their play.
- Staff have high expectations for what children can achieve.
- For example, children learn mathematical concepts as they explore the connecting cubes to create patterns.

- However, the organisation of the environment is restrictive and does not allow children the flexibility to explore and play in ways that consistently meet their learning style or interests.

- Although children enjoy being independent, due to the poor organisation of the setting they do not have opportunities to practise these skil s routinely throughout the day.
- What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?n The manager does not have a secure knowledge of safeguarding practice.
- Although she has completed relevant safeguarding training and understands the safeguarding policy for the setting, she has failed to make timely referrals to the relevant agencies to ensure children are protected from harm.
