  • This provision does not meet requirements Overal , children are happy when they arrive at the club, and they are eager to greet their friends.
  • However, children's safety is compromised.
  • Leaders do not ensure staff understand safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Staff are not able to identify children who may be being abused or know what to do to act upon any concerns they may have.
  • Generally, children enjoy the games planned and organised by staff.
  • Children particularly enjoy being in the outdoor area where they can play different games together, such as bal and team games.
  • Children develop their physical skil s as they run and throw balls to each other, and they often work wel as part of a team.
  • Older children compliment younger children's artwork and encourage them to display their work.
  • Despite this, quieter children or those who struggle to join in do not receive the support they need to participate fully.
  • Children know the rules of the club and eagerly recite them when asked.
  • However, they do not always listen to instructions, which leads to staff raising their voices.
  • This means children's overall experience at the club is variable.
  • What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?n Leaders ensure that the setting's safeguarding policy is up to date, containsaccurate information, such as contact details of key professionals, and is displayed.
  • However, ineffective induction, supervision, monitoring and ongoing training do not ensure that staff fully understand the correct procedures to fol ow if they have concerns about a child's safety and welfare, or if an allegation is made about a member of staff.n Leaders follow safe recruitment procedures.
  • For example, they check thesuitability of staff.
  • This helps to ensure that all staff working with children are suitable to do so.
  • However, ongoing monitoring of staff is not effective because some staff do not understand their roles and responsibilities.n The manager successfully completes daily checks of the environment, indoorsand outdoors, and has adapted the routine to ensure that it is safe for children and staff.n At times, children are poorly occupied.
  • Some resources on offer do not interestthem.
  • Activities are not linked to children's individual interests and do not engage them.
  • Staff do not interact wel with children and are not positive role models.
  • Children's behaviour is not managed effectively.
  • Staff raise their voice to children to engage them to listen, follow instructions and cooperate in team games.
  • This does not promote children's self-esteem and confidence.n Staff support children to make healthy choices at snack time.
  • However, whenchildren have their fruit snack, staff do not provide children with individual plates
