  • The provider and staff are fully aware of their roles in reporting any safeguarding concerns they may have and recording long-term medication for children.
  • The provider now carries out more detailed supervision of staff, and she is able to identify their training needs.
  • Recent training has helped staff to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), enabling them to settle, have fun and be safe at the club.
  • Staff have high expectations regarding children's behaviour.
  • All children show respect for each other and older children eagerly help and support younger children during activities.
  • Staff support all children to be independent.
  • Children get themselves ready to play outside and organise themselves into teams for games such as football.
  • Mealtimes are social times as children sit and talk about their day and what they do at home.
  • What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?n Staff provide good-quality activities that help children to settle as soon as theyarrive.
  • Children eagerly rush into the club to start playing.
  • They have a clear bond with staff, who help them to enjoy their time at the club.n Staff work with the children and parents to review activities on offer.
  • They planactivities according to children's interests and the feedback from previous sessions.
  • Staff make sure activities are linked together to support children's learning.
  • For example, during the inspection they were learning about bugs and insects, including visiting a wildlife centre to learn how to build 'bug hotels' and the importance of helping the insects.
  • This also helps the children to enjoy their time at the club.n Staff work closely with the local early years team to support children who havespecial educational needs and/or disabilities.
  • They are in regular correspondence, sharing the progress children are making at the club towards their targets.
  • This helps to provide good continuity of care for the children.n Routines at meal times are not always fully effective in supporting all children tohave fun at the club.
  • Staff ask children to wait at the tables until the majority of children have finished eating.
  • On occasion, this can leave those who have completed their meal quickly, waiting without activities to occupy them.n The provider works with staff to make sure they have a reasonable workloadand are not stressed.
  • Staff are given up-to-date training to make sure they are able to carry out their role to support children.n Staff are all consistent in their approach to behaviour management.
  • Children areall highly considerate of each other and behave exceptionally wel .
