- The provision is inadequate Children are not safe at the nursery because staff do not supervise them wel enough.
- Some children climb unnoticed onto bookcases and are at risk of fal ing and injuring themselves.
- Children are not supported to manage their own behaviour as staff are not clear with them about what is expected.
- Children's emotional needs are not met.
- Staff do not provide enough comfort to help children settle wel .
- There are occasions, particularly at the end of the day, when there is no manager on site.
- This has an impact on children's welfare as there is no suitable adult to take charge if needed.
- Staff do not support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) wel enough to help them progress in their learning.
- Children walk around the nursery with no focus or adult interaction.
- They do not remain engaged in activities long enough to learn, and they move between activities frequently.
- Children are confident to ask staff for resources that are out of sight.
- They ask staff if they can play on the bicycles.
- Staff initial y respond positively.
- However, they then fail to get the bicycles for the children, leaving them waiting.
- Children do not develop their language and communication skil s as staff do not provide them with the correct support or opportunities to do so.
- While leaders have meetings with staff, they fail to recognise and act upon weaknesses in staff's knowledge of how to deliver a good curriculum.
- Children's learning at home is not supported as parents do not receive the guidance needed from staff.
- What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?n Leaders have not ensured that there is a deputy on site who can take charge inthe absence of the manager.
- This means that at times there is no one responsible for the safe running of the nursery.n Children spend time outdoors.
- They move their bodies as they weave aroundwooden poles.
- However, staff do not always supervise children when they are using equipment.
- Older children hang unnoticed off the equipment and are at risk of failing off and hurting themselves.n Staff do not know children wel enough to be able to provide relevant learningexperiences that take into consideration children's interests and development needs.
- For example, when children show interest in a book, staff read for a short period and then walk off, leaving the book unfinished.
- This leaves children frustrated and does not support them to develop a love of books.n Staff do not support children's communication and language development.
- Forexample, as children play with a carrot and apple, staff quickly tel them what they have rather than allowing children the time say the words themselves.n Staff provide parents with information about what their children have eaten andif they have slept.
- However, staff do not provide any guidance or share ideas
