- The designated safeguarding lead and staff do not have secure knowledge of safeguarding matters and the action to take to ensure children's safety.
- Risk assessments are carried out daily to check the environment is suitable.
- However, ongoing checks throughout the day are ineffective, particularly in the baby room.
- The manager and staff do not identify and remove possible hazards that may pose a risk to children's safety.
- For example, resources and equipment are left across the floor and by door exits, which could cause tripping hazards for young children.
- Children receive inconsistent support from staff who have low expectations of what individual children can achieve.
- Children, particularly those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), do not have sufficient opportunities to make steady progress in their learning.
- Overall, the curriculum is not successfully planned to enable children to make the best possible progress in their development.
- Despite the weaknesses, children arrive happy at the nursery and ready to play.
- They behave wel , understand what is expected of them and receive regular praise from staff.
- This helps to develop their self-esteem and confidence.

- For example, children learn to wash their hands before mealtimes.
